Bird Collision Prevention
Up to one billion birds die annually in the US due to bird collision, but this underrated issue even lacks sufficient database in China.
Witnessing bird collision in my high school campus in migration seasons, I was aware that bird collision in urbanized area is unsustainable for humans and wildlife to thrive. Therefore I wanted to make changes to my community.
Our Story
I founded a bird collision prevention project of six members to promote bird-friendly facilities. Fundraized 4000 RMB through National Bird Collision Prevention Network, we negotiated with my school to improve our campus buildings. We implemented prevention stickers for five buildings. Through consecutive years of monitoring and inspection, we haven't found any more collisions.
Aiming to connect more communities to inspire and inform conservation, we collaborated with 4 other international schools in setting preventions and forming clubs.
